What is left unfinished, what we do not feel or say, can speak the loudest.
Trying to “fix” creates pressure,
not lasting change.
When we stop trying to fix ourselves constantly, we can pay attention to what is going on inside us. Therapy can provide the time and context to explore this at a pace that feels appropriate and rewarding.
Feelings can be murky, vulnerable and risky to share. It takes courage, safety and willingness to speak our truth. I aim to support this process by offering my attention and interest and growing trust over time.
When we practice being aware we start to listen more and react less. From this place, meaningful choice and change begins.
Being aware is noticing what is here now without trying to fix anything or get somewhere else.
What brings you in?
The reason for being in therapy can range from seeking support for dealing with stress or patterns you find yourself repeating, to a desire to connect more authentically with your self, your partner or family.
The most common concern people share when starting therapy is feeling stuck.
It’s often not the thing itself. It’s the story we tell ourselves about it. We get lost in it. Most of what we encounter in our lives are our repetitive thoughts. How we manage determines a great deal of our suffering.
What is a dysfunction now had a function in the past. It helped you cope, feel appreciated, fit in, or regulate something overwhelming. What worked in the past may be outdated and require attention.
You might find yourself trying to communicate a difference with your partner and it feels like you are going nowhere. What impacts us is not the content of the argument, it is the meaning we make out of it.
Therapy is a process that uses awareness and connection to support change.
